The United Counties of Prescott and Russell
(UCPR) are pleased to announce that the trails in the Larose Forest
will reopen to the public this Saturday, May 16.
This reopening follows the end of the annual spring thaw period as
well as the recent provincial announcement regarding the reopening of
provincial parks. Walking and biking trails, as well as ATV, motorcycle
and horseback-riding trails, will be available as of Saturday morning.
Please note that only the trails accessible from the P1 and P7
parking lots (in the Limoges sector) will be open. The trails accessible
from the P4 parking lot in Bourget remain closed, as well as the
parking lot, as the conditions are still too wet.
The UCPR wishes to advise that trail use will be unidirectional
(one-way), as per recommended guidelines. Regulations related to
COVID-19 remain in effect, including the maintenance of a minimum
physical distance of two metres (six feet), and a maximum group size of
five people.
Although the washrooms have been installed, they cannot be sanitized
on a regular basis. The Henri Latreille shelter will remain closed, in
accordance with provincial regulations. The UCPR is also requesting that
anyone experiencing signs of COVID-19 remain at home and not enter the
trail network.
Larose Forest staff would like to thank residents for respecting the
trail closures, which were put in place in the early days of the
pandemic due to the spring thaw as well as to support action against the
spread of COVID-19.
