The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) are very proud to continue their partnership with the MRC d’Argenteuil, the MRC de Papineau, and Ottawa Riverkeeper to protect the Ottawa River.
A shoreline cleanup will be held on September 23rd from 3 to 5 p.m.,
at the North end of Presqu’île Road in Lefaivre, Ontario. Anyone
interested in participating must first register via Eventbrite. This fun activity is for all age groups and will be organized in accordance with the current COVID-19 guidelines.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for all residents of the region to
take concrete action to preserve our magnificent river,” explained
Stéphane Sarrazin, Warden of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell
Council. “Thanks to the iCollect mobile app,
it is also possible to clean up a shoreline on your own at any other
time and track the amount of trash collected right from a smartphone.”
This event is a continuation of the many actions that are being taken
as part of the Friendship Agreement, a commitment that aims to unite
the three riverside communities in their goal to promote the protection
and environmental health of the Ottawa River and its tributaries.
Similar cleanups will also be organized in the MRC d’Argenteuil and the MRC de Papineau.
"I am proud to see the Friendship Agreement taking form, and I
believe that this cleanup initiative is just the beginning of a series
of actions that will benefit our entire community," added Paula Assaly,
Chair of the Friendship Agreement Implementation Committee.
