Mandatory Vaccination for Visitors

As of November 15, 2021, the Prescott and Russell Residence will have a policy requiring all visitors, including Caregivers, Service Providers, volunteers and students, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to enter the long-term care facility.

This additional security measure is intended to continue to protect the residents of the Prescott and Russell Residence from the spread of this virus which is still present in the community.

“It is clear that vaccination against COVID-19 is the most effective measure to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus,” explained Stéphane Sarrazin, Warden of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. “I am confident that the implementation of this policy will go a long way to reducing the possibility of the virus spreading again in the Residence as it did last fall and winter.”

“We have an obligation to take all necessary measures to provide the safest level of care to our residents, many of whom are particularly vulnerable,” explained Alexandre Gorman, Administrator of the Prescott and Russell Residence. “This is definitely a necessary measure as unvaccinated people are at the greatest risk of being infected with COVID-19 as well as transmitting it to others.”

Exemptions and accommodations for reasons set out in the Ontario Human Rights Code will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Individuals wishing to initiate an accommodation process are asked to contact Ms. Juillet as soon as possible at 613-632-2755, ext. 248, or by email ([email protected]).
