The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (the “UCPR”) are at the final stages of construction of the new Prescott and Russell Residence, which is under construction since the winter of 2021. The work is on track to be completed by the end of fall 2024.
Once the work is completed, the final quality control inspections will be conducted, including those from the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care. These will confirm that the building is ready to safely welcome residents. A moving date will be set after receiving satisfactory results.
“It is with pride that we are about to begin a pivotal stage of this important project, which brings us considerably closer to its completion. It is, however, more essential than ever to demonstrate thoroughness and diligence in order to guarantee the excellence for which the Residence is known for,” declared Stéphane P. Parisien, Chief Administrative Officer of the UCPR.
“Building a new long-term care home is not just a question of materials and equipment. There is an essential human aspect to consider. Our teams are fully mobilized to ensure that the new Residence is ready to welcome residents, their families, and the employees in an optimal environment,” added Normand Riopel, Warden of the UCPR.
A reminder that the new Prescott and Russell Residence will cover an area of 193,000 square feet and will have 224 beds; this will be 109,000 square feet and 78 beds more than the current facilities. Its design far exceeds the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care. This Residence therefore represents a new generation of modern facilities in the province.
