The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (the “UCPR”) hosted the Warden’s Banquet on November 22, 2025, in honour of Mr. Yves Laviolette, Mayor of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet. Warden Laviolette, who had previously held this position in 1988, celebrated his second term as head of the Council at the Alfred Community Hall, in front of more than 200 guests.
This year’s event, presented by the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital, also marked the 175th anniversary of the Corporation of the UCPR, a significant milestone for the entire regional community. Local elected officials, representatives from numerous community organizations and the business community, community leaders, and Warden Laviolette’s family and friends took turns paying tribute to him to celebrate his year as Warden, making the 2025 edition of this annual fundraising event especially memorable.
“It is deeply moving to see so many local people come together to celebrate our community’s successes. I have often said that a community is only as strong as the bonds that unite it. Tonight, we witnessed our beautiful region come together, and I am honoured and extremely grateful,” said Warden Laviolette.
The 2025 JP St. Pierre Award was presented to Ms. Mireille Dauth, a dedicated volunteer for over 25 years with the Friends of the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital. Ms. Dauth notably served as President of the organization for over 15 years, supporting countless patients during their care at the regional healthcare facility. This award is presented each year to a deserving resident who has had a positive impact in the community.
The 2025 Warden’s Award was presented to Ms. Mélanie Gratton, Deputy Treasurer at the UCPR for the past 20 years. She was recognized for her dedication, outstanding professional skills, and contributions to the Finance Department.
The funds raised during the Warden’s Golf Tournament and Banquet will be distributed to non-profit and community organizations at the Inaugural Meeting of the new UCPR Warden, to be held on December 17, 2025. Since 2018, more than $195,000 has been distributed to the community.
