Bacteria related to Enterococci (VRE)
VRE, are bacteria that are normally present in the urinary tract and human intestines, and are also often found in the environment. Usually, these bacteria do not cause infection. However, when an infection occurs, it can usually be treated with antibiotics. Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) are enterococcal strains that have become resistant to the antibiotic vancomycin.
